Ability Score Maximums
A player’s ability score can exceed 20 provided that the lowest ability score is equal to or greater than half of the desired highest ability score. Ability scores increased by items and magic ignore this rule. Permanent increases above 20 that ignore minimum ability scores may not be further permanently increased through other means until this rule is fulfilled.

Movement
Any creature may make climb or swim checks but must succeed on an Athletics skill check to traverse the desired waters or terrain. If the difficulty increases at any point, the creature must roll a new check. Characters with a burrow speed must pass an Athletics skill check to dig against the hardness of the ground based on the chart below. These difficulty checks also apply when using digging tools.
